Lin Songtian, Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) President, said that the current changes and chaos in the international situation are more prominent, but the general trend of the world economic center of gravity shifting from west to east will not be reversed.

The Chinese government and people attach great importance to and cherish the friendly and cooperative relations with Tonga and other Pacific island countries, and are willing to uphold President Xi Jinping’s philosophy of true affinity and sincerity, carry out friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of marine economy, green development, climate change, and achieve complementary advantages and mutual development.

President Lin Songtian said that CPAFFC cherishes the traditional friendship with the people of various island countries, and is willing to maintain and strengthen communication and coordination with the Pacific China Friendship Association, and support it, to further strengthen its capacity building, and look forward to face-to-face in-depth discussions with all friends and promote bilateral humanities, economics and trade, and poverty reduction as soon as possible; promote mutual development and other fields of friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation, in order to enhance mutual understanding and friendship, promote common development, and make new efforts to better benefit the people of both sides.

Her Royal Highness, Princess Pilolevu of the Kingdom of Tonga thanked President Lin Songtian for convening this video conference and expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries for providing timely assistance to the Pacific island countries in fighting the epidemic, as well as providing scholarships and support for capacity building of friendly organizations. “China is my second hometown” Her Royal Highness stated. “I look forward to visiting China as soon as possible.
