The unveiled UUV is a Dive-Large Displacement (Dive-LD) vehicle that will increase Australia’s capability to counter China in Indo-Pacific waters.

Canberra: 

Australia unveiled its sub-drone prototype to support underwater surveillance and mine warfare capabilities in the Indo-Pacific region. The move is part of an attempt to counter China’s dominance in underwater warfare and bridge the gap between two countries in naval warfare.
